Welcome to the Office Life website!

Business People

Welcome to the Office Life website. We are here to give voice to the myriad frustrations and absurdities that inevitably crop up in office life. We all like to hear and spread great stories. The success of media such as television and the internet is based upon the ability to propagate good stories. Everyone wants to be the first to bring a great story to the attention of others. Television news ratings are based upon their number of viewers and this number of viewers grows rapidly depending upon who reports a breaking story first. Even in the office environment it is easy to be tempted to spread stories that are overheard in casual conversation. Modern day open plan offices do not provide any real level of privacy in conversation and it is quite possible to hear, even inadvertently, conversations that take place between two colleagues in the next cubicle or at the next desk. While it is tempting to take such a story and either spread it to others, but doing so may significantly jeopardize your employment with the company.

Many organizations frown upon such behavior and some even go to as far as warning against it in their employee handbooks. The best way to prevent your employment from becoming endangered is simply to refrain from giving in to this temptation. There will be stories that you might overhear in your office about company matters, family matters or personal relationships between colleagues and superiors that might seem juicy, that might seem like information that everyone would be interested in hearing, but staying away from such office politics a must in the modern business climate.
